At this point the reporter intervenes, pointing to a family of African-American sisters, very tall, very strong, radiantly lovely. Coming toward us on the boardwalk, laughing. "They look single, how 'bout them?"

Frat boys look at the reporter as though he's insane, or dangerous, or both. Nobody says a word. Apparently that wasn't what they had in mind.
