January 15, 2006:

Depression is all about the time you'll never get back.

Where along with every other decision this is its own small example. This, right now. The time you've invested in reading this. Moments depleted from your emphatically finite supply.

Time without do-overs, time as arrow, time as consequence of the geometry of the universe, whether real or illusory, time as thermodynamics, time as outcome, time speeding us toward individual and collective destinies.

Time as irretrievable. Time as punishment for your mistakes. Time as prison, with its own justice that can never be undone. Time that's just like you: gone, soon, forever.
