March 22, 2017:

Drunk. Effusive regarding things going well.

Mixed responses from friends. Many join in my happiness. Others complain. Things are difficult for them, they're unhappy, they feel that my effusiveness is bragging and insensitive.

How to relate to these two groups? It's tempting to hold the latter at arm's length. Loyalty means being happy when friends experience happiness; being supportive when they don't. But then: am I being unsupportive by expressing my own happiness at a time when they can't relate?

Ultimately I think one needs to choose those who are good for one. In my life there's been far too much loyalty to and patience with people who are happy to drag others down. That needs to not happen.
