The leaves were still as night fell. Mary Ann and Gilligan sat together eating breadfruit, singing a lovely old song Mary Ann remembered from church.

"By the rivers of Babylon," they sang. "Where we sat down. And there we wept when we remembered Zion."

A lonely monkey, foraging, paused briefly to listen. "Pretty," it thought. Sniffing the wind it ran through the canopy towards home.

The first attempts at persuasion had failed. Turd Blossom and the Old Ex-President's Wife had anticipated as much, and were undaunted. Back in the village they prepared sterner measures.
