Race riots were very numerous all over the North because of the antagonism that was caused between the
Negro and white workers. Many of these riots occurred because the Negro was used as a strike breaker in
many of the Northern industries. (1941)

The film brings the books' racism into stark and contradictory relief. Contradictory: on the one
hand the alliance of many races, hitherto hostile, to meet the emergency fate confronts them with.
On the other hand the standard imperialist nightmare in which bands of light-skinned brothers-in-arms,
typically surrounded, fend-off and ultimately annihilate enormous hordes of dark-skinned subhumans whose
only purpose is hate and whose only destiny is death. It is, remarkably and unmistakably, very much
like the invasion of Iraq.
