They came in the rain. Men with lanterns. Lashing the thickets.
The people broke, and scattered. It's a dialectic: flight versus struggle. In the short run, flight seemed safer. Still it would have felt good to fight.
Men with lanterns. Kicking the dark.
The park is like an army camp.
