March 20, 2006:

Old and new bicycles, on their sides to the right of the door of your childhood apartment.

Old: brown Schwinn Varsity, mud spattered, a little rusty around the edges. Odometer with tens of thousands of miles.

New: black, more compact, lighter, with higher handlebars allowing you to sit more upright instead of hunching in racing position.

Freedom, mobility, self-determination.

Wish fulfillment.
