Don't know why I remained friends with that one, for so long. Mooch: rides, books, money.

Cynical posturing: I hoped for guitar lessons.

But that's false. In that time I seldom broke from anyone who wanted to hang. Partly from gregariousness, partly also from inexperience. Took a lot of hurt to intuit the damage false people can do. That happened later.
