Not that long ago this place was for human sacrifice. Cook counted forty-nine skulls.

Strong Maohi women push wheelbarrows piled with these rocks. They're recycling: the stones will become part of their garden wall.

I choose to avoid this temple, and with it, I think, the war god Tu, recipient of the souls dispatched here.
