Ayn Rand exemplifies the ideology that capital creates value, or more generally that capital creates.

Topsy-turvy universe: Thomas Edison, Romantic genius alone in his lab, invented the railroads. What matters is the drive of great and monied individuals. Those who do the work are parasites.

In reality government provided the capital that built the railroads, while whole armies of anonymity did the work and died. 1200 Chinese died bringing track cross the mountains. Leland Stanford and his brother capitalists appropriated the riches, often by fraud. A criminal, not a creator.

Ideology is a type of story that makes the obvious invisible.
