He was the all-purpose one-armed guy.
Some of the time he'd lost his arm in a machine accident. Other times he'd left it out his car window when it was crushed by traffic.
Sometimes the pain led to morphine addiction. Other times it was heroin. Still others, alcohol. Or his alcoholism was entirely unrelated.
"I've never lied to you," she said, disremembering all the times she did. Each time she truly meant it.
