Officious beat cop shouts, "You! Tall guy! Walk in the crosswalk!"
Your author, finding officious beat cop laughable, shouts back, "Thanks dad!"
The people laugh. The cop doesn't. He can't make up his mind what his next move should be. While he hesitates I wave goodbye before disappearing around the corner.
