Her husband was a baldhead with a fetish for Asians. He took advantage of his position as ESL tutor to exploit his female students with utter cynicism. Or utter lack of self-awareness, perhaps as likely.
She was just plain dumb.
It required a lot of mulling to sort that out.
Obviously she had terrible manners, was self-absorbed, manipulative. What was puzzling was that she so obviously meant well.
He was dumb but also evil, in a dimwitted "I can't be evil I'm too cool" kinda way.
He didn't mean well at all.
