August 1, 2018:
Young couple upstairs, Bob and Sharon. Sweet, kind, soft-spoken small-town kids who believe in fair play, following rules, and defending the flag. Narrow, in that American RFD kinda way. Things are as we've been taught by the people who know better.
They like old-timey music. Modern music is too loud, and too fast. I ask, "Don't you like the Beatles?" They know who the Beatles are but can't name their songs. I play them "Hey Jude". They like the first half, but when the singalong starts they tell me that's enough. It's too fast, and it's too loud.
I find it puzzling that Bob's a jet mechanic at Miramar. You'd think those planes get pretty fast and loud. Maybe that's exactly the reason he wants his music to be whisper volume.
