She looked cowed, and vigilant. It's present in the Instamatic snaps I took, it's present in the class photos taken by experts. She wasn't sleeping, she had black under both eyes. She was sweet, a girl who would never hurt you, never on purpose.
I loved her and there was nothing I could do.
