May 15, 2019:
Little Nehru at the boundary. Picket fence, bramble bush, urban at the runoff channel. Tomboy: girlish but badass, expression at once challenging and curious. Concrete and telephone wires: city girl.
Little Miss Baggy Pants with belt and red sneakers, baby belly peeking beneath too-short-shirt. I've posed her on the concrete below our building, 'cos that's our world: brick and concrete and asphalt, where the plants grow where they're told.
The frightened girls relaxing. They're afraid of their father, but he's not here right now. Just the two girls, very different looks, one blonde and ebullient, the other brunette and guarded. Posed with the two blonde brothers who've never truly entered my true field of vision.
