There's a moment on 76 West when suddenly you can feel the proximity of the ocean.

There's the subtlest possible drop in the air temperature coming into your car. It's just a little cooler. And the subtlest possible change of the color of the sky. It's just a little more blue. And then you can smell it: the faintest salt tang in the air. And you're there.

I wanted to visit the ocean. So I drove home the long way around.
