She thinks we broke up because I wanted my ex. That's not true. We broke up because the mooching was too overt, too unreasonable, and it offended my sense of justice. At a time when I was too absolute, too judgmental, and too uncompromising.
It is true that I did come to want my ex. But not yet. It was only once I was free to want her that I did. That, and her terrible breakdown, which made me want to protect her. I learned to my cost that I could not, but that came later.
I googled her, just now. The little mooch. I never do that. It made me smile. I hope she and all her friends and family are well and happy.
