June 7, 2021:
We had milk and ice cream from the Alta Dena dairy.
There was something unusual in the ice cream. Their chocolate implied a hint of something non-standard — perhaps carob? — and it was unusually creamy. A smoothness that was radical, where other ice creams were wrinkled.
I had a friend to walk home with. A nice girl in my class, who lived on the way. Her house was beneath tall swaying eucalypts, and we'd finger paint masterpieces spread on her parents' kitchen table.
