December 26, 2021:
It was easiest to live nocturnally. I was typically up till 3:00 or 4:00, often as late as 5:30 when my mother rose for work. Propped in bed reading; or in a living room chair listening to music through headphones (loud). I lived this way during my gap year and all through college.
Easiest because uninterrupted. Quiet at night, no-one asking to interact. So that I could read and re-read and re-read, the necessity of untreated ADHD.
Daytimes at home: seldom in the apartment. Usually the bowling alley, where the constant wash of background noise facilitated concentration, and the pretty lady brought French fries. Or, often, with my bike, the park along the eastern shore of Mission Bay or, farther afield, Ocean Beach pier, inside the restaurant with wooden picnic tables while waves rocked and French fries were brought by a different pretty lady. Afternoons, these, granted sleeping late after up all night.
Daytime in the dorm: forget it. Too much noise, too frequent distraction. Better to sleep those hours away.
