She meant to be thoughtful but would undermine herself by refusing to collaborate.
Collaboration doesn't exist in her world. She makes her decisions autonomously, therefore often lacking the information or the context necessary to make decisions successfully. She makes her decisions autonomously, therefore they frequently fail.
"You make me feel stupid," she cried one day, and my heart went out to her. For her pain, her failure, and her lack of insight.
She isn't stupid. She's brilliant, but arrogant, where arrogance is the root of her refusal to cooperate. She refuses, because at bottom she believes she knows better than anyone in the room exactly what's needed and why it should be she who accomplishes the task. Where my role — ultimately the fruit of frustration — was inevitably one day to give vent to exasperation.
