Where she makes up with bluster what she lacks in expertise.
"No," she says, "No. I don't want to go to the site, I want it in my inbox." One perfectly reasonable half of the now very ancient split between user sensibilities of push versus pull. Her limitation is that she shows no awareness of the history of that discussion, or of the existence of the other half. So that her pronouncements unconsciously parody a certain regal condescension which appear laughable to people who work with these questions for a living.
Which is an aspect of her posture that puzzles me repeatedly. What does she imagine I do for a living? I've worked for 30 years at the heart of the invention of these practices, alongside the people who invented them. She lives in a rural community of hippies and rednecks and has seven online followers. It made me feel elitist, but there's actually reasonable reason for that, because I kindof am.
But a relationship of mutual learning isn't, I think, something with reality for her. She might posture at it, or mime it or playact. Ultimately though she sees herself as the one in charge.
