September 15, 2022:
NIH articles re health benefits of teas. Science, not Internet crowd noise.
Green teas improve cognitive function, boost metabolism, reduce both blood pressure and cholesterol. Black teas are associated with statistically-significant decreases in cardiovascular episodes including heart disease and stroke, where "statistically-significant" means 9-13%. They are each rich in antioxidants: green in catechins, black in theaflavins and thearubigins.
The negative impact of sodas seems to be due to sugar rather than cola or other ingredients. Obesity, diabetes. I seem to be at risk of neither; nevertheless the long-term benefits of teas are compelling.
