Ordinary teas require dressing up. Lemon, sugar, milk. Blandness camouflage.
My mother drank sugar with splashes of tea. At the diner she'd turn the sugar dispenser fully upside down, fill her glass half full with it, pour tea over the small mountain she'd created. For her, tea was seemingly an afterthought.
