Empathy, and concern.
He wears his stress. Loves his alcoholic wife, looks after her and the finances, repairs the damage, makes the decisions, does his best to spare her embarrassment. Where the outcome is his own unhealth: blood pressure, rapid ageing, depression, panic.
Hampered by lack of IQ. Neither are Einsteins. She's smarter but not smart. He's just flat dumb. So that his decisions lack insight or plan, and he bounces from crisis to crisis becoming older and older visibly by the minute.
Empathy: this was like my own situation years ago, so much so that I have to be conscious not to project. Concern: for me as much as him, since this is certain to have implications.
