Different drugs. 1971: heroin and coke. 1997: bump bump bump. Where the music morphs from claustrophobia to elation, from "You got to mix it child you got to fix it" to "I'm so scared I'm not coming down..."
I remember someone who might have been Greil Marcus writing of Sticky Fingers something like, "If you sniff the label you'll probably get off." Same buzz, different era.
