March 21, 2023:
Trapped in storms. Landslides, downed power lines, road closures.
Intending a carload south, stopped by 100 foot pine fallen across both lanes. Within feet of town, ironically enough.
I find a route out. All the way winding west to the coast, past road closure signs and mudslides, south on 1, cut over through Salinas. Hours of effort.
Worth it to be in motion. Worth it to be making change. Worth it to be moving forward.
