April 19, 2023:

The office has a reception desk, but it's left unstaffed.

Customers and potential customers wander in, wait, become confused or impatient, call "Hello? Hello?", eventually peer into the hallway between workspaces and, conforming to physics and psychology, end up at my rented door. Which they open, responding with anger or exasperation when I tell them I don't work for the realtor. Even if I lock it they stand there pounding: they've seen me through the window.

Ideologues argue that Capitalism is more efficient than other forms. That's never been my experience, in either large or small enterprises. Never more obviously not, than in a real estate office in Ramona, California.
