What's that song?
Somehow we're at the battle of the bands, San Diego Community Concourse, early 1966. Why would we be there? It's not her music.
"This is The Beatles' new single..." It's a riff song, guitar and bass locked. All I catch of the lyric is "...and I found out..." I want it. I spend a year searching for it.
I thought it might be "What Goes On". That would make narrative sense. I saw that title on an album sleeve and bought the album. Nope.
Keep going. There's one song left. "Day Tripper". Found.
Throughout life I've spent months and years searching for songs I've heard just snatches of — or remembered from obscure corners of childhood. With luck and persistence I've eventually found them all.
