Mushrooms are for insight, she earnestly insists. It's not a recreational experience.
Fine. But it is an experience which can be shared. Which was my actual point.
She's not listening. Her world is bifurcated between school and everything else, where her private life is private and her school life is private and she goes so far as to use different names for each.
So that there's no sharing on any agenda of hers. Not her life, not her thoughts, not her identity. Certainly not her love. She has biological and financial needs and that's the extent of that.
Fine. There'll be no sharing of mushrooms, any more than of any other experience. There'll be no sharing. That's the boundary she defines, which I have no choice but to respect.
